There’s a new trend that has come up in the last 2 years and that is oiling. I never thought that “oiling” is a word, but it has become a term that means the use of oil to heal or give temporary relief to some of our ailments.
Originally, oiling refers to the process where leather is
hand coated with either a raw or a combo of raw oil, blended with emulsified
oils and penetrating aids. It is supposed to give the leather the lubrication
that it needs for it to be flexible.
Wow, isn’t that way different from its original meaning!
But it doesn’t discount the fact that oil helps a lot in
helping us with our discomfort. It has been used since the time of our
ancestors and whether you know it or not you’ve been oiling since you were a
kid. I have my oils, what we call “banios” in my dialect. We use it on our
babies (aciete de manzanilla or alcamforado) when they have flatulence. It
reaaally helps in soothing down baby’s tummy aches.
My version of the “banios” is my ever trusted San Sierra and
White Flower (which is camphor oil). I also use a drop of lavender oil to calm
my nerves before I go to sleep. Lavender oil promotes relaxation. My mom is a
fan of the Healing Galing oil. So see,
you are really using oil in your everyday life whether you are aware of it or
not.
Because oiling has become trendier, thanks to aromatherapy, it
has become a lifestyle. Moms are into mixing oils, creating their own blend of
oils and it also has become a way to earn extra income. I know a lot of
companies that are into oils like Doterra , Young Living Essentials and Plant
Therapy to name a few. But I think the best oils that you can use is the one
you mixed yourself, or mixed by someone you trust. Remember that oils an also be
harmful to your skin if not used properly. A bad mixture of oil can be harmful
than helpful to you. Make sure that the oil you use are essential oils and not
some synthetic oil that can be bought anywhere.
Essential oils are expensive because of the process of
extracting the oil.
There is a lot more to learn about oil. I will blog about
this in a different post.
Do you know the thing that comes to people’s minds when they
hear you are into oil and herbs? It’s also the reason why some are apprehensive
of using oils and herbs. Witchcraft.
Yes, Wicca (a religion or a sect that practice white magick) use herbs
and oils in preparing potions. But, it
does not necessarily mean that when you use herbs and oils, you are practicing
witchcraft.
What about herbs?
Herbs, as you know helps bring out the flavor in our food.
But there’s more to it than just a flavor enhancer. Again, going back to our
grandparents’ time, herbs were used more than they use medicines. There is a
corresponding herb for every ailment you have.
Oregano is a good flavor enhancer and also a good cough
reliever. My kids used to have asthma attacks. Thank God, they are over that
phase now, but there came a time when my daughter was the one who told me that
she does not want to take any more medicine or use the nebulizer for her
asthma. So I opted for herbs.
Oregano and tuba-tuba to the rescue!
I once aspired of making a herb garden, but I stopped when
my indoor garden plants died due to hot weather. I would love to have an indoor
garden with lots of herbs, oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme , you name it, maybe
someday.
If you are interested in mixing or creating your own
signature blends of oils and wants to know more about the many uses of herbs,
there are a lot of information online, but I can only advice you to practice
due diligence. I am suggesting you check out this Herbs and Oils bundle that I

That’s it!

It's the last month of the year and in a couple of weeks, we're officially saying hello to a new year. This is my favorite time of the year to write , especially in this space, my space, where I can write freely without hesitations and without fear of judgement. My space, my rules.
So many things had happened this year. There were meetings with old friends and flames, knowing a lot of deeper things about people in my circle and knowing who I am. But the best thing that ever happened to me this year, was being fired from a job that has been my bread and butter for the past three years. No explanation, no nothing, just flat blank told that my service wasn't in alignment to where the team was headed in the next months.
Was I hurt?Yes, I was and in all honesty, I was in a state of self-pity. I cried some tears mostly because of the betrayal I felt. Had I not given enough service to be deserve an explanation? I am just thankful that I had someone who shook me out of my self-pity and injected words of encouragement into my brain to the extent that I cried feeling like a little girl being scolded by a parent.
Be thankful to the one who fired you.
But then as I reflected back on what happened, I realized that it was indeed the Universe's way of taking me out of my comfort zone, getting me all prepped up for greater things to come in to my life. I realized that working for that company, I was limiting myself into that character of me, the $3 V.A.
That was my worth. She somehow put a price on my head every time she talks about how she got VAs from the Philippines for $3 an hour.
At first, it didn't really made me react negatively to it. Heck, I was even flattered to have been mentioned in her podcasts. I didn't take it personally because I thought since she was a financial coach, she was kind of flexing how she was able to save money for her business by outsourcing to cheaper workforce from other countries like the Philippines.
She broke some promises, like sending me to an online business writing school. But I didn't really thought much about that because I realized that if I wanted to improve, it would have to start with my own initiative and not rely on others for training.
As I was on my journey to learning about self-worth, I had a sudden mind shift and that included how I see the value of the kind of service that I do to people. I started to feel offended every time I would hear her podcasts that mention anything about $3 VA. Subconsciously, I was resenting her more and more each day. I had wanted to ask for a raise, but I was also hindered by the thought that I don't have anything else to offer more, so I stick with that rate.
Maybe because I was harboring that resentment in my heart and in my mind, I was unconsciously manifesting it. I wasn't aware but maybe they could sense that I wasn't really very much interested in what I was doing anymore because everytime I start to work, the label ($3 VA) would always come to my mind and I would be sick to my stomach.
So, after I lost my job, I was back at the drawing board and in a matter of days I found a new one, because I know what I was offering, Losing a job helped me know more about my strengths and the value that I provide other people.
I was able to raise my worth 5x what I was earning. I realized that even though I resented that "$3 VA" label, I was subconsciously embracing it. I was limited into that thought that I was indeed worth $3. Not that I am degrading others who are earning that much but because I have been in this industry more than enough to be an expert in what I do. And I realized that I can be an authority in this specific industry that I am in.
The best advice I got this year was "Stop playing small." This came from the same person who shook me to my core with a combination of encouraging words, some tough ones and made me see that I was always trying to put myself in the corner.
I never realized that but maybe it was because I wanted always to choose peace , and avoid arguments or confrontations, that I just wanted to shut my mouth. I forgot that I once used to be an Alpha female. I have forgotten that once upon a time, when most of my peers were still enjoying their college days, I was already hustling and climbing the corporate ladder in another country.
I have forgotten my power. I let my crown slip.
It is time to put on the crown back on my head. I am better, fiercer, way more powerful than I was a year ago. I am thankful for being fired because it has inspired me to take the road that I was less likely to take on. I was able to move out of my comfort zone.
Now as the new year looms just beyond the horizon, I am ready to take on more clients, grow my business and help more people. I will forever be grateful to the people who helped me make the transition. And if it also means that I have to be thankful to the one who fired me, then I am.

Are you one of those people skeptical of going to the doctor
for vitamin shots?
Or are you one of those people who think that going to skin
care experts are just vain?
Let me tell you this, vitamin shots are not bad for your
body as long as it is given under a medical professional or skin care expert. And
there is nothing wrong about enhancing yourself and taking care of your health.
When I reached 40, that’s when I realized that I should have
taken care of my body especially my skin when I was still in my teens. A skin
care expert client of mine recommend that we should teach our children to take
care of their skin as early as when they reach puberty.
We know how hormones can literally ruin a good face with
acne, and it can affect their self-esteem a lot. I know, my daughter had acne
since she got her period. I have heard a lot of advice that it is best not to bring your teen to a
lot of dermatologists before turning 18, since that is exactly the moment their
hormones go wild, I still think that it doesn’t apply to when your teen’s acne
is bad.
I am not a fan of habits or routines. I feel like it is
boring and I am kind of forgetful, so even though I know we should have a skin
care routine in the morning and at night, I just kind of forget about it,
sometimes intentionally, because I feel that it was taking a lot of my time.
That was a big mistake. Being over 40, I started to see
changes in my skin, especially on my face. I have Chinese and Filipino blood in
me, plus a bit of all the races that occupied our country (which I know you
have that too), so I have fair complexion and it has started showing freckles and
sun spots.
And a lot to contribute to having bad skin is dehydration,
lack of sleep and lack of exercise. This comes with my job. Kidding though! As
an online professional, my work requires me to have a sedentary life. Or
sometimes, no life at all, social life I mean.
So, I digress, it’s not too late to start taking care of
your body. I started taking vitamins that has anti-ageing and detoxifying
components. As we age, the natural suppleness of our skin is lost. I also
started applying creams and moisturizers on my face and body.
I take my vitamins intravenously. For me, this is a faster way for me to take in
vitamins that my body needs. I have been doing this for almost a year and I
didn’t see any side effects on my physical and mental health.
But not a lot of people will agree with me because of the
connotation that if you take in things like glutathione, collagen and vitamin
c, you just want to have fairer or lighter skin. If you don’t know about it
yet, the whitening or lightening of the skin is just a side effect of
glutathione.
According to Medical News Today, glutathione is a powerful
antioxidant found in every cell in the body made up of three types of molecules
called amino acids. So, really, glutathione is already living inside of us.
So the original purpose of taking in glutathione is when
your liver isn’t able to produce them anymore. The whitening or lightening of
your skin is just a side effect of taking it.
I wasn’t a fan of injectibles back then. Heck, I would not even try
Depo-Provera if I wanted birth control. But when I saw the effects of taking
the double dose (a booster concoction of glutathione and vitamin C), I started
to have it monthly. For me, it helps a lot in detoxifying. I sleep better at
night and my skin is glowing.
Why choose an IV vitamin over oral supplements?
With oral supplements, we get only about 20%-50% of the
absorption after it goes through the digestive system. With an IV vitamin shot
or drip, the vitamins remain in your system for about 2-3 weeks. There are a lot of vitamins that can be taken
intravenously, one is the Myer’s cocktail, which is actually a mixture of
magnerium, B vitamins, Vitamin C , calcium, magnesium and saline solution.
Sometimes, doctors have their own mixture of vitamins to create their own
cocktail.
I have not tried the Myer’s cocktail or anything that is
more than the double dose of gluta and vitamin c. But I am willing to try it if the health
benefits surpass the risks.
So, the only place that I have ever gone for my doses is the
CocktailsMD in Alabang. I like going there because aside from the accessibility
and the friendliness of the nurses staff, ( you have to be a nurse or a nursing
assistant or a skin care expert to be able to legally inject), the cocktails
are affordable, but not super cheap that you’d think twice whether the vitamin
is legit or not.
CocktailsMD also performs cosmetic surgery among many other
treatments they provide.
So, if you are thinking about having your vitamins
intravenously, then just do it, as long as you don’t faint at the sight of
needles and a little blood.
Remember that nobody can stop or shame you for your choices.
It is your body, you have the right to do what you think is good for you. Do it as a form of self-care and
self-love. Take care of your body, it is
the only one you have.
